Silicon mitigates potassium deficiency by enhanced remobilization and modulated potassium transporter regulation

چکیده

Silicon (Si) improves plant growth and development especially under stress conditions. Although Si alleviates suppression deficiency symptoms of several nutrient disorders, underlying regulatory processes have remained indefinite. Here, we analyzed the impact on nutritional, metabolic transcriptional responses in roots shoots barley subjected to potassium (K) deficiency. On long run, nutrition improved root shoot as well metabolite homeostasis partly reverted K signature transcriptome back adequate only fully expanded leaves but hardly roots. In short term, supply K-starved enhanced first expression vacuolar exporter KCO1 together with root-to-shoot translocation rates rubidium (Rb) that was used tracer for K. The typical response, marked by upregulation importer genes HAK1 AKT1, set a few days later then at several-fold higher levels. Lower contents Si-supplied plants indicated more efficient remobilization pools translocation, which run restored K-dependent sake continued assimilate provision These results provide sequence physiological partially recovers from indicate interferes systemic signaling alter regulation transporters.

Death in Potassium Deficiency

A 37 year old Negro janitor was admitted for investigation of a change in bowel habits and vague abdominal complaints. History. In November, 1949, he first experienced excessive flatus and a frequent urge to defecate. His stools were said to be soft and of the usual color. Postprandial nausea and emesis were noted later. The vomitus consisted of the fluid imbibed with or without a small amount ...

Modelling potassium uptake by wheat

A model has been used to simulate potassium (K) uptake by wheat in a pot culture experiment. Three soils from India, namely Alfisol, Inceptisol and Vertisol, were differentially K exhausted by Sudan grass (Surghum vulgare var. Sudanensis) for a period of 280 days and were used to simulate potassium uptake by wheat (Triticum aestivum) and also to predict the amounts of K released or fixed during...

Autonomic regulation of calcium and potassium channels is oppositely modulated by microtubules in cardiac myocytes.

We recently showed that colchicine treatment of rat ventricular myocytes increases the L-type Ca2+ current (I(Ca)) and intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+](i)) transients and interferes with adrenergic signaling. These actions were ascribed to adenylyl cyclase (AC) stimulation after G(s) activation by alpha,beta-tubulin. Colchicine depolymerizes microtubules into alpha,beta-tubulin dimers. ...

Urinary Dilution in Potassium Deficiency ‡

One of the earliest manifestations of potassium depletion is a reduction in the ability of the kidneys to elaborate a concentrated urine.' This defect has been shown to result at least in part from a decrease in the concentration of sodium in the interstitial fluids of the renal medulla and papilla.9 The disturbance in renal concentrating ability may exist without impairment of glomerular filtr...

Potassium channel regulation.

The sulphonylurea receptor (SUR) is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family of membrane proteins. It functions as the regulatory subunit of the ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel, which comprises SUR and Kir6.x proteins. Here, we review data demonstrating functional differences between the two nucleotide binding domains (NBDs) of SUR1. In addition, to explain the structural basis ...
